  Skyhawk_006.JPG - Moveable front slats to aid jet at low speeds as Delta wings have problems at low speeds versus transonic speed. Slats are not hydraulic but instead operate by air pressure impinging on the wings as air speed and angle of attack changed. The large flaps and moveable slats would aid the jet in carrier landings.
